The F-100 was order from Bell Motors in Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1956 by my Grandfather. Grandpa ordered a red truck, 272 V-8, 4-speed transmission, and 16" wheels. His wait time ended up being months instead of weeks. The dealership finally called and said his truck had arrived "but there was a problem, it is BLUE!"

After looking at the truck and not wanting to wait any longer, he accepted it. The V.I.N. trim tag specified a red truck - obviously an assembly line mistake. During restoration I painted the truck the color that Grandpa had originally wanted.

During the 70's and 80's, when my uncle owned the truck, Bob Drake of Bob Drake Reproductions would chase him all over town trying to buy it. Bob Drake badly wanted the truck because is was still original, whereas most trucks from that era had been modified.
